The problem I had when trying to learn though (and you probably have to) is that it's difficult to learn a new language fast by reading a book. What made the difference by using this particular resource was that it didn't solely depend on learning by reading through a book. It had hours of audio lessons, grammar lessons, and interactive software that really helps to clear up any misunderstandings you might have with sentence structure for example.

If you are thinking about learning French I would definitely say "go for it"! It's a really nice language to speak and very enjoyable to learn. Please do yourself a favor though and save wasting money on the many French language guides available. Instead, invest in the same resource that I used and that I highly recommend in order to learn French online fast.
